Martin Schaffel
Executive Chairman
Mr. Martin Schaffel founded legacy Audio Visual Innovations, Inc. (AVI) in 1979. He began his career in management with a national retailer, and later joined a large office products distributor. He has since built a successful business in the sale of audio video products and services to corporate, education, healthcare, military and government markets worldwide.
As Executive Chairman, Mr. Schaffel's role is to shape the direction of AVI-SPL, its competitive nature, and the ability to provide cutting-edge AV and presentation technology. In doing this, Mr. Schaffel spends a vast majority of his time keeping in close contact with manufacturers, and dedicates himself to research and analysis of all new and current technology and products. He places critical emphasis on employee mentorship and the strength of our client relations.
Mr. Schaffel was awarded the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation by the ICIA, and received an Honorable Mention in the International Association of Business Communications Excel Award, which recognizes Excellence in Communication Leadership (1997).
In addition to these achievements, he is also affiliated with numerous industry-related organizations. Mr. Schaffel is on the Board of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Board of Directors for North Star Bank in Tampa, the Florida Orchestra, Berkeley Preparatory School, and the Executive Committee of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Florida - College of Business. He also guest lectures at the University of Florida, and is on the Board of Directors of Prospect Smarter, a Tampa-headquartered technology firm.
